Colin Riley EP Release, Songs of Coiled Light

1st October sees the release of Colin’s new EP Songs of Coiled Light, the twentieth release on his label, Squeaky Kate Music. Colin performs alongside improvising bass clarinettist Gareth Davies and sound-artist Rutger Zuydervelt. Blending scored music, improvisation and electronic manipulation, the EP takes its original inspiration from a poem by Michael Rattee.

World premiere of Colin’s new work for choir and harp It Speaks Without Answer. Colin’s second specially-written piece for Pegasus, the six songs chart the course of the river from source to estuary exploring moods and emotional connections. Each song makes reference to small noticings along the way. The conductor is Matthew Altman, and the harpist is Gloria Rappo.

Listening Desk is an interactive sound sculpture that invites people to access and create soundscapes with sound archives. The Listening Desk democratises access to sound archives in a fun and playful way. Installed at 10 locations around the UK.
Colin Riley Cutty Sark soundscape, London
An immersive ambient set of soundtracks for each of the decks of the Cutty Sark (in all weathers) created by composer Colin Riley and violist Nic Pendlebury (Sonic Collaborations). The music uses an orchestra of electric violas alongside treated piano and samples mixed with sounds from the boat.
The music is available exclusively as a download EP on the Sonic Collaborations Bandcamp.
