Stuart MacRae Ursa Minor, Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall

The Little Bear constellation viewed from two perspectives. Composer Stuart MacRae introduces a filmed performance of his quintet ‘Ursa Minor’, performed by the Hebrides Ensemble and astronomer Dr Anne-Marie Weijmans describes the constellation and tells the stories of some of its most remarkable stars.

Ben Gaunt Ben Gaunt’s Soundscapes, part of The Piano Trial Festival Leeds

Catch Ben performing 2 pieces as part of the 2024 Piano Trail Festival. Local Mosaics and Graffiti (7 Sep) draws inspiration from public art and ever-changing graffiti in the underpasses near his home in Leeds. Brand new piece Filey Brigg (10 Sep) for electronics and improvisers sees Ben improvise along to the electronics part, and invites you to can join him if you want to!

Yshani Perinpanayagam Carismático Tango, Buxton Opera House, Buxton
Wednesday 11 September 2024

Yshani is the pianist with Carismático, a Tango ensemble with a difference. They take their inspiration from the Tango Nuevo compositions of Argentinian Tango Composer Saúl Cosentino (a protege of Astor Piazzolla) with a virtuoso ensemble of accordion, saxophone & clarinet, piano, drums and bass.
