I am on a journey to become a composer-performer because lately I have felt somewhat disconnected from my work. For the last decade or more I have been a “backroom composer”, meaning that I write my music in my office and then send it off to a performer or performers. On many occasions this is the end of my involvement in the creative process, I am not able to take part in the next phase of the creation, the interpretation, the performance, for instance because it takes place in a different country. I have realised that this phase where the interpretation takes place is so very important to my wellbeing as a musician, so I am actively trying to make this a bigger part of my work.

That is why I am now creating a selection of my arts songs for me to sing with a pianist, for you, and other prospective patrons.
