The centrepiece of this exploration of flowers and gardens is Benjamin Brittenās five playfulĀ FlowerĀ Songs, which are placed amidst settings of theĀ Song of SongsĀ and its evocation of a luscious, fertileĀ landscape by Spanish composers of the late Renaissance. Featuring music by Renaissance starsĀ such as TomĆ”s Luis de Victoria and Francisco Guerrero, the concert also includes contemporaryĀ works, and a world premiere performance of new music by composer Amelia Clarkson.
