Amelia Clarkson: World Premiere with the Marian Consort

Presenting bold and thrilling performances from music across the centuries, The Marian Consort isĀ an award-winning British vocal ensemble noted for ā€˜performances that glow with golden purity andĀ soul’. Founded and led by director Rory McCleery, The Marian Consort returns to Chiltern Arts withĀ their stunning programme,Ā The Language of Flowers.

The centrepiece of this exploration of flowers and gardens is Benjamin Britten’s five playfulĀ FlowerĀ Songs, which are placed amidst settings of theĀ Song of SongsĀ and its evocation of a luscious, fertileĀ landscape by Spanish composers of the late Renaissance. Featuring music by Renaissance starsĀ such as TomĆ”s Luis de Victoria and Francisco Guerrero, the concert also includes contemporaryĀ works, and a world premiere performance of new music by composer Amelia Clarkson.
