Hello patrons! A bonus update for you this afternoon… I am delighted to share with you that my choral setting of Psalm 46: 1–5, 10, ‘God is my refuge’ was awarded first prize for this year’s Composer Competition at the 2025 Charles Wood Festival, by distinguished jury Seán Doherty and David Hill.

The text was selected specially for this year’s competition by Festival Patron John Rutter to celebrate his 80th birthday.
My piece was performed by the Charles Wood Singers at the Festival Gala Concert on Friday 15 August, and professionally recorded the following day. Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled!
I have a few revisions to make to the score, but will share the recording here (and on my website) once I have it.
For now, here’s my thrilled face pre-Gala concert:

Lots of love,

Great news, Alice! I’ll pass your news on to our conductor at St. George’s Singers and let the choir know when we start work on your carol for Christmas. I look forward to hearing the winning piece.
