Sonia Stevenson to step down as Head of Music Patron after four transformative years
Sonia Stevenson has announced her decision to step down as Head of Music Patron after leading the organisation since 2020. Over the past four years, Sonia has played a pivotal role in shaping Music Patron’s vision, values and identity, building a digital platform that redefines modern-day patronage by connecting composers and patrons in new and meaningful ways.
Reflecting on her time with Music Patron, Sonia shared:
“It has been an immense privilege to run Music Patron over the last four years. To be gifted Anthony Bolton’s vision for a new landscape of musical philanthropy, and given the opportunity to bring it to life, has been an honour. There is so much we have achieved and so much to celebrate.”
Sonia’s leadership has defined Music Patron’s brand identity, giving it a vibrant voice that champions new music. Under her guidance, the organisation’s digital platform has supported 28 diverse composers, providing a space for financial support, sharing content and connection.
In collaboration with partners and organisations, Sonia oversaw Music Patron’s official launch at the Groucho Club, celebrated the recruitment of two cohorts of exceptional, composers, and spearheaded innovative ways for patrons to engage with their creative journeys. From webinars to drawing-to-scoring with Marc Yeats, and tasting music with Supriya Nagarajan, Sonia championed novel approaches to building connection.
Her tenure also saw the launch of the Composer Match Quiz, which reached new audiences, and Music Patron’s presence at key industry events, conferences, and podcasts, sharing the organisations mission on a wider stage.
Sonia’s leadership has been characterised by collaboration, creativity, and a sense of joy, leaving an enduring legacy for the Music Patron community. We are deeply grateful for her dedication and the strong foundations she has built. We wish her every success in her next chapter.
