What's changing with my data?
From 1 April 2026, Music Patron will become a fully independent organisation, separate from Sound and Music.
This means Music Patron will become the data controller for your personal information and the direct recipient of your donations. A data controller is the organisation responsible for deciding how your personal data is used and protected.

How is my data being transferred from Sound and Music to Music Patron?
Your data is being transferred from Sound and Music to Music Patron under a formal Data Transfer Agreement that ensures:
- Your data is handled securely during the transfer
- All legal requirements are met
- Your rights are protected throughout the process
Will you use different systems to process my data?
No. We will continue to use the same secure systems. Your payment method (card or Direct Debit) remains unchanged, and the same security standards continue to apply.
What happens to my data held by Sound and Music after the separation?
Sound and Music will retain certain records as required by law (such as financial records for Gift Aid purposes), but they will no longer use your data for ongoing communications or patron management.
Your active patron relationship and data will be managed solely by Music Patron from 1 April 2026.
Do my data protection rights change?
No. You have the same rights under Music Patron as you did under Sound and Music.

What if I don't want Music Patron to hold my data?
If you do not wish to continue your patronage under Music Patron's data protection policies, you can opt out by:
- Emailing [email protected] before 31 March 2026
- Requesting that we cancel your patronage and delete your data
If we don't hear from you by 31 March 2026, your support will continue automatically under Music Patron's updated policies.
