I wrote this for “The Pixel Players” – a solo piano recital featuring music for “small screen” (computer game music) to go before the Hallé’s Music for The Big Screen concert at Royal Concert Hall Nottingham in March 2019. Recorded in Lockdown when I had little else to do – a pivotal choice as it turns out; it was the first proper piece I had written since being a teenager and it’s popularity on social medial is a huge part of what initiated my recognition as a composer, leading to commissions etc.
A little half-secret – I had actually planned to commission Benjamin Oliver (the eventual dedicatee) to write a piece for this visual as the synchronisation concept is very him…but I had the idea too late but had already proposed the programme so I ended up having to write it myself!
