World premiere of Skye Songs (1) an 18-minute song cycle performed by mezzo soprano Jessica Summers and pianist Tomáš Klement at The Corn Exchange Theatre, Dorchester Arts, High E St, Dorchester DT1 1HF. The project is part of Poetry to Song, a collaboration supported by Electricbackroom Studio, Arts Council England Lottery Grants and Dorset County Council’s Community and Culture Fund. Dorset-based composers Sadie Harrison Composer and Marc Yeats will lead an ambitious new initiative, transforming poetry written by local writers into professionally performed and recorded songs performed alongside new song cycles commissioned by the Hinrichsen Foundation and Vaughan Williams Foundation of their own settings of Marc Yeats’s poetry published in his collected poems volume 1.
