SUMMARY:Amelia Clarkson: World Premiere with the Marian Consort
DESCRIPTION:Presenting bold and thrilling performances from music across the centuries\, The Marian Consort is an award-winning British vocal ensemble noted for ‘performances that glow with golden purity and soul’. Founded and led by director Rory McCleery\, The Marian Consort returns to Chiltern Arts with their stunning programme\, The Language of Flowers. \nThe centrepiece of this exploration of flowers and gardens is Benjamin Britten’s five playful Flower Songs\, which are placed amidst settings of the Song of Songs and its evocation of a luscious\, fertile landscape by Spanish composers of the late Renaissance. Featuring music by Renaissance stars such as Tomás Luis de Victoria and Francisco Guerrero\, the concert also includes contemporary works\, and a world premiere performance of new music by composer Amelia Clarkson. \nRodrigo Ceballos Hortus Conclusus\nJuan Gutierrez de Padilla Missa Ego flos campi – Kyrie and Gloria\nSebastian de Vivanco Sicut lilium\nPadilla Missa Ego flos campi – Credo\nVivanco Surge propera\nBenjamin Britten Flower songs \nInterval \nAmy Bryce Madrigals for Plants\nHildegard of Bingen O viridissima Virgo\nTomas Luis de Victoria Vidi speciosam\nVivanco Veni dilecte mi\nAmelia Clarkson New Commission: World Premiere\nFrancisco Guerrero Ego flos campi
